“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness.” —2 Corinthians 12:9
Sometimes life is really hard. How can you keep trusting God in the middle of suffering? By God’s grace. We know that God saves us from sin by His grace, but after that His grace helps us to endure even the deepest pain.
The apostle Paul knew what it was to endure relentless hardship and pain. For the sake of Christ, he suffered rejection and persecution that would have caused many to give up. At some point, Paul was afflicted with a “thorn in the flesh”—something that caused him to suffer greatly. Repeatedly, Paul implored God to relieve him of the problem. As we see in 2 Corinthians 12, the Lord didn’t choose to grant that desire. Instead, He gave Paul exactly what he needed to deal with the thorn and to turn it into a blessing.
Maybe you’re going through a situation that seems beyond the limits of your strength. Would you ask God for His grace and help? We need Him for our sorrows just like we need Him for our sin.
