“Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” —Isaiah 43:7
Before I met the Lord, I was never really interested in God. I didn’t know what His glory was, much less that my way of living as a woman could either point toward it or minimize it. It wasn’t until the Lord revealed Himself to me, saved me, and I began to study the Scriptures that I was able to understand that we are God’s creatures, created in His image and likeness. We are created for His glory.
As a child I grew up in a very religious family and faithfully attended Mass. I thought God’s glory had to do with cathedrals, church pews, prayers, saints, and candles. The phrase “glory to God” was simply part of the popular jargon when something went well.
How far this is from the weight and deep meaning of His true glory! To know it, we must know Jesus Christ in a saving way, come to Him in repentance and faith, and let Him show us His glory through His Word.
