For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. —John 3:16
The word love is mentioned almost three hundred and fifty times in the Bible, which means it must be pretty important to its Author. Of all those Scriptures, John 3:16 and Romans 5:8 give the most full and beautiful picture of what God’s love is:
God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ
died for us. (Rom. 5:8 niv, emphasis added)
God loved, so He gave and He demonstrated.
When you want to know what something is supposed to be, you go to the one who made it, right? So go to the Maker of love! As you consider how much you are loved by God, may you gain a greater perspective of true love, strength for our hearts, and motivation to love and do good deeds (Heb. 10:24) with full force and reckless abandon!
Make it Personal
Ask God to help you gain a greater perspective of love and that He would help you love others as He loves them.
