I will be a Father to you, and you will be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty. —2 Corinthians 6:18
Our view of God is often greatly influenced by our fathers, either positively or negatively. I am blessed to have had a loving, faithful, involved dad. This has made it easier for me to trust my heavenly Father and receive His love.
Many people, however, have had the opposite experience. If you’ve been wounded by a father, you may find it extremely difficult to trust God.
Yet the wisest, kindest earthly father is but a pale reflection of our heavenly One. The God of the Bible is infinitely more loving than even the most wonderful dad. This doesn’t mean He gives us everything we want or that we always understand His decisions. It doesn’t mean He never allows us to suffer pain. But that’s because He loves us and knows what’s best for us.
Regardless of how you feel, the fact remains that God is a good Father who dearly loves His children—a Father who, if you are truly His child, can be trusted with your life.
