The Lord drove the sea back with a powerful east wind all that night and turned the sea into dry land. So the waters were divided. —Exodus 14:21
Imagine the Israelites running for their lives. I’m sure they could see their adversaries chasing them not far behind. I can fathom the fear they must’ve felt as the Egyptians closed in. Then suddenly, the perfect escape route was made available as God parted the Red Sea and made a straight path for them to cross.
Not only did this path serve as an opportune way of escape for the Israelites, but it was also one of the most well-known booby traps in history. Just as the Egyptians began to pursue the Israelites, God closed the sea, and the Egyptians met their destruction.
God was faithful in saving the Israelites from persecution by the Egyptians. It was not by the Israelites’ power or might that they escaped. God was the sole source of this victory. This is just one showing of God’s might. As you walk through Scripture, with every flip of a page, you’ll see God’s power displayed over and over again.
