They’re Watching You

May 25, 2024 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

In spite of severe persecution, you welcomed the message with joy from the Holy Spirit. As a result, you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. —1 Thessalonians 1:6–7

Have you ever realized that as a Christian, people are watching you? Not in a surveillance kind of way, but they’re noticing how you live.

They see your countenance. They see how you respond to difficult situations; they see if you just do tasks or if you have a heart of love behind your actions. They see if you’re a whiner and complainer and if you’re grumpy.

Our behaviors matter. Our attitudes matter. If we want to be servants of the Lord, we’re called to the highest possible standard. We need a life message—not just giving people truth but giving them truth embodied, incarnated, so they can see a living demonstration of Jesus.

If the people you’re serving imitate not just what you do but your heart attitudes and your spirit— how you do what you do—will they become more like Jesus? That’s the question.

Make it Personal

Can people see in your life what they hear proclaimed from your mouth? Ask God to help your life be a living demonstration of Christ.
