Nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false. —Revelation 21:27
If you were moving to another part of the world, you’d give careful thought to how you packed. Even if you were only relocating to a different part of town, you’d likely throw out anything that wouldn’t fit well in your new surroundings.
The fact is we are preparing for a move. We’re packing for a relocation adventure to our eternal home. And that means giving attention to what life in this new place is going to be like and what we need to be doing to prepare.
Three times in the last two chapters of the Bible, our heavenly home is referred to as the “holy city” (Rev. 21:2, 10; 22:19). It’s holy because it’s where God lives and rules. A place of indescribable joy and beauty. A place free of sickness and sadness. A place without sin. And since no sin is allowed there, why would we want to hold on to it now?
This world is just a staging area for eternity. Start packing (and unpacking) for your trip today.
Make it Personal
Ask God to show you any unnecessary “clutter” in your heart that you need to part with to be ready for your move to heaven.
