Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. —1 Corinthians 15:57
Death is a formidable enemy, but nothing is greater than God. Because God has defeated sin and death, the trajectory of ourlives is changed. We don’t live as people without hope or fight our battles with a loser’s mindset. Death has no victory. God does!
How would our lives as Christians look different if we didn’t know the eventual outcome of God’s plan? Would we give up? Instead, God has provided all we need to continue our journey with hope. Paul exhorts the Corinthian church saying, “Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain” (1 Cor. 15:58).
Paul’s words are as applicable for us today as they were for his original listeners. Our lives as Christians aren’t in vain. Our work to bring glory to God isn’t worthless. We need not wonder if the plan will work or who will gain the ultimate victory. Sin and death both lost their sting when Christ said, “It is finished” (John 19:30).
Make it Personal
Thank God for the hope and assurance we have that the work we do to glorify Him on earth isn’t in vain.
