When Daniel learned that the document had been signed, he went into his house . . . three times a day he got down on his knees, prayed, and gave thanks to his God, just as he had done before. —Daniel 6:10
Daniel’s primary method for keeping up with what truly made a difference in the world was a practice the world knows little about and understands even less. Three times a day, we’re told, regular as clockwork, he would go to his house (if he wasn’t there already), ascend to an upstairs room where the open windows faced southward toward Jerusalem, get down on his knees, and pray.
Now, you can’t keep that up for a lifetime, as Daniel did, much less for a week, a month, or a year, unless you’re convinced that Heaven rules. And you can’t pray like that if you don’t believe the rule of Heaven is the real determinant of what happens to you and how it affects your life here on earth and, more important, for eternity. You can testify all you want, but your prayer life will reveal what you really believe.
