You are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God. —Ephesians 2:19 ESV
Have you ever been in a situation where you felt like you didn’t belong? Have you ever felt that way at church? I have. Sometimes I feel like a stranger in my own church body. And I bet I’m not the only one.
Humans are so good at calculating whether we belong. When we walk into a room, we decide in a fraction of a second whether we fit in. Too often—especially when it comes to church—we conclude we don’t belong when, in fact, we do.
Of course, we didn’t always belong to God’s family. Without Christ, we were dead in sin, separated from Christ and alienated from one another. But Jesus has brought us near—first to God and then to one another.
If you’re in Christ, you belong in the Church— not because you feel like it or because you look like the others or because someone saved a seat for you. You belong in the Church because of the magnificent, supernatural, world-changing work that Jesus did on the cross.

How can you live in the truth that you do belong in the Church, even when you don’t feel like it?
