You Have Need of Endurance

Don’t throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you need endurance, so that after you have done God’s will, you may receive what was promised. —Hebrews 10:35–36

Life in Christ assures us a glorious eternal future. It ends well for us. Really well. Unimaginably well. God has a plan for this world and for your life. And all of God’s purposes and plans will be fulfilled in His time, on His timetable, not yours. But between now and then, we have a great need for endurance.

Runners don’t build endurance by only running a hundred-yard dash. Rather they run miles and miles over a period of time.

We build it up by running through difficult places and down hard paths, by squaring off with temptations and tests and problems and challenges and tears and fears. All the while keeping our eyes on the finish line so that we run with assurance that God is going to fulfill His plan and keep His promise.
