70 Before 20
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: It’s the season for making New Year’s resolutions, which makes me think about Jonathan Edwards. He made seventy resolutions for his life.
Jonathan Edwards: Resolved, when I feel pain, to think of the pains of martyrdom and of hell.
Nancy: What’s amazing to me is that he wrote all of these by the time he turned twenty years old.
Jonathan Edwards: Let there be something of benevolence in all that I speak.
Nancy: Jonathan Edwards learned to serve the Lord early in life.
Jonathan Edwards: Resolved, to inquire every night as I am going to bed, what sin I have committed, and also at the end of every week, month, and year.
Nancy: Are you teaching your children the importance of seeking the Lord? I wouldn’t expect them to write a list of resolutions quite like Jonathan Edwards, but are they being challenged to grow in their character and their relationship with God?
Jonathan Edwards: Resolved, to live with all my might while I do live.
With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
