A God-Sized Hole

Nancy Leigh DeMoss: I once talked with a woman named Bobbie who had never received love or affection from her parents. She entered marriage as a very needy person.

Bobbie: I was expecting my husband to love me for all the missing love that I had had for all those years. God brought me to the place where I realized I knew nothing about love—I didn’t even know how to love Him.

Both of us realized that God was the only one who was going to fill our hearts with the right kind of love because I knew what my husband needed was God's love in his life. He didn't need a wife who was clinging to him for the kind of love that I never had.

And one day I just got on my knees before God, and in my heart I said, “Lord, you’re going to have to teach me how to love.”
