Abounding in Love
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: We pursue lots of things.
Woman: It took me five years, but I’m about to finish my master’s degree. It was so hard to do it while I was working, but I kept chasing that goal.
Nancy: But are we pursuing love?
Woman: But my marriage ended in the process. I don’t know. I guess we just fell out of love.
Nancy: Did you know that you can work at love, just like you put effort into any other goal? Paul says to the Thessalonians, "I want you to increase and abound in love—not just a little bit of love. I want you to always be growing in your love, to abound in love, to have overflowing love." (see 1 Thess. 3:12.)
That kind of love first has to come from God in us. Then it becomes a conscious choice to put the needs of someone else before our own, no matter how we feel. Are you increasing and abounding in love today?
With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
