Above All Names
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Think of all the names that swirl through your head in a day: names of your friends and family members, famous people, brand names. How about the name of Jesus?
We read about His name in the Gospel of Luke, who reports, “He was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb” (2:21).
The apostle Paul tells us more about the significance of that name in Philippians chapter 2, where he says, “God has highly exalted and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth” (vv. 9–10).
The name of Jesus can’t be compared with any other name. His name is above every name—above all earthly kings and rulers, above the wealthiest, the brightest, and the most famous.
So take time today to worship the One whose name is above all other names.
