An Unusual Gift
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: God sometimes gives me an unusual gift—a sense of how bad my sin really is!
As a child, I was taught to “live right” and was immersed in church activities. I’m so thankful for that training, but there’s a danger that sometimes goes along with being raised in church. It’s hard for some of us to see our sin as truly detestable. And when we don’t feel the weight of our sin, it’s hard to appreciate the gift of God’s mercy.
I’m so grateful for those times that God allows me to see the sinfulness of my own sin; that my sin is spiritual adultery against Him; times when I am overcome with the sense of what it cost Him to forgive my sin.
What usually follows, then, is an overwhelming sense of gratitude and wonder at His mercy toward me.
When is the last time you wept over your sin? When is the last time you rejoiced in God’s mercy?
With Seeking Him, I'm Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
