Battle Array
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: When you pass a police officer on the side of the road, do you find that you're a little extra careful to do everything just right? There’s something about the uniform that impresses us.
God is far more powerful than any police officer.
First Peter 5 says that “God resists the proud” (v. 5). When you dig a little there, you find the idea that God is in “battle array” against the proud. It’s kind of like that intimidating, uniformed police officer with his gun drawn.
But there’s good news. First Peter 5 goes on to say that God “gives grace to the humble.” Like a police officer responding to a call, God comes to our rescue when we humbly cry out to Him.
If you’re in a tricky situation today, have you prayed about it? Humbling yourself in prayer is like dialing 9-1-1.
But if you try to handle things all on your own, you might be facing the resistance of the toughest, strongest person you could ever imagine.
With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
