Broken Fellowship
Woman: I can always tell when my kids have done something wrong. They won’t look at me. I hold their face and say, "Look in Mommy’s eyes!"
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: When your child disobeys, he knows that the fellowship between you is broken. It’s the same way for us when we’re not right with God. One reason we need consistent time with Him in the Word and in prayer is to recognize when there’s been a breach in our relationship so we can repent and get back into His presence.
So we pray with David in Psalm 51, “Have mercy on me, O God . . . according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions” (v. 1).
Can you look in your Father’s eyes today? Or has something come between you and Him? Let me encourage you to spend time in His Word and in prayer today. Again, with the psalmist David say, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”
With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
