Brokenness and Rights
Leslie: This is Seeking Him with Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Several years ago I began to compile a list contrasting the characteristics of proud people . . .
Man 1: Proud people have to prove they’re right.
Woman 1: I always get the last word.
Nancy: . . . with the characteristics of broken people:
Woman 2: Broken people give up their rights.”
Man 2: They even give up the right to be right.”
Nancy: Here are some differences I found out about the way we view our rights:
Man 3: Proud people claim their rights.
Woman 3: They have a demanding spirit.
Woman 4: Broken people have a meek spirit.
Man 4: Proud people are self-protective . . .
Woman 5: . . . of their time, their rights, and their reputation.
Man 5: Broken people are self-sacrificing.
Woman 6: Broken people are self-denying.
Nancy: James 4:6 says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Would you surrender your rights to His will? Ask Him to develop a broken, humble heart in you.
With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
