Candid Talk
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: In recent years we’ve heard about a number of highly-publicized scandals. One disturbing result, I think, is that talk of private matters has been splashed throughout the news media. Language that was once considered inappropriate outside the bedroom has now become part of everyday vocabulary.
In Proverbs 7 we read the story of a married woman who is also seductive; she’s trying to ensnare a young man. She begins talking about something that should be just between her and her husband.
Woman: “I have spread my bed with tapestry, colored coverings of Egyptian linen” (v. 16).
Nancy: There are certain topics that should stay in the bedroom between a husband and wife.
Woman: “I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon” (v. 17).
Nancy: Do you ever find yourself talking with friends about things that should stay between you and your husband? Ask God to give you discretion as you talk with others.
