Captain
Leslie Basham: With thoughts from her book, The Wonder of His Name, here’s Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Captain isn’t the most common title used for Jesus in the Bible. But in Hebrews 2:10, he’s called the Captain of our salvation. That means He's our leader, and we must follow His orders—even when we can’t understand what He’s doing, even when we may feel anxious about where He’s leading us.
Jesus can be trusted as our Captain, our Commander, our Savior, and our Friend. He’s a Captain who never fails, a Captain who fights for us. Even now, He intercedes on our behalf as we fight against the world, the flesh, and the devil.
Think about it: We don’t need to hide in shame, give way to despair, or cower in fear. Our mighty Captain is in us, with us, and for us. And so we can joyfully say to Him, “Yes, Lord. Aye, aye, Captain!”
With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
