Christmas Visit
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: He was unable to speak for most of a year. He was old enough to be a grandfather, but in fact he was a new, first-time dad. But when God opened his mouth, Zechariah’s first words were not about his new son.
Zechariah: “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people.”
Nancy: At Christmas time, we think of visiting as a brief and (hopefully) pleasant few days. But when God comes to visit, He means business. For example, God visited ancient Israel with deliverance from Egyptian bondage.
Today we await the return of Christ, when He will visit again, as surely as He visited at that first Christmas. And in the meantime we worship Him in anticipation of the fulfillment of His promise.
