Daniel's Prayer
Woman: Well, it seems like I pray for all my family and every missionary I know. I never know what else to pray for.
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: I think Daniel gives us a good example of knowing how to pray according to God’s will. The nation of Israel was in exile. While reading the prophet Jeremiah, Daniel discovered that their captivity would last seventy years.
So Daniel prayed for the outcome that had already been promised in the Scriptures. He said, “Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay” (Dan. 9:19).
By praying for God’s revealed will to be done on earth, Daniel aligned himself with the heart, the plan, and the purposes of God. Through prayer, he became a partner with God in fulfilling those purposes.
You can do the same thing. If you don’t know what to pray for, try praying through the Scriptures. Ask God to align your heart with the things He wants to do.
