Dig for Treasure
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: When’s the last time you walked down the street and stumbled across a big pile of gold? It just doesn’t work that way. If you want to find gold, you have to spend and effort digging for it.
That’s a picture of our approach to God’s Word. How many times do we skim over the words of the Bible hoping to catch a nugget of truth? It just doesn’t work.
King Solomon collected priceless treasures from across the world. He knew what it was like to search for beautiful things. Here’s what he wrote in Proverbs 2:3–5:
“If you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.”
The next time you read the Bible, try slowing down, meditating on it, and digging for some treasure.
