Do My Attitudes Build Up?
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: The book of Proverbs tells us that a wise woman builds her house, but a foolish woman tears hers down. One way we can do that is in our attitudes. Listen to these Scriptures and think about whether your attitudes tend to build up or tear down your home.
Woman: “Help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus . . . ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’” (Acts 20:35).
Nancy: We build others up when we meet their needs, not expecting anything in return. But we tear down by conditional giving.
Woman: “In everything give thanks” (1 Thess. 5:18).
Nancy: We build up by recognizing things to be thankful for. But when we complain about all the things that don’t go our way, we’re tearing our house down.
Woman: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourself” (Phil. 2:3).
Nancy:An attitude of humility will build up our house, but selfishness will tear it down.
