Enemies
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Imagine a powerful general taking a break from battle and visiting a prisoner of war camp. Now imagine that he opens up a cell, sees a young enemy soldier, and tells him he’s just been pardoned. Not only that, but imagine if that general were to bring that prisoner to live with him in his own home, and then to adopt him as his own son.
That sounds impossible, but it’s nothing compared to what God did for us. Romans 5 says that “while we were still enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son” (v. 10).
According to God's Word, I was His enemy. I was bent on rebellion against God—even as a little girl growing up in a Christian home. The Scripture says that when I was in that condition, God loved me. He loved you. He demonstrated that love in the supreme act of self-sacrifice. "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son."
That’s true love!
