Equal in His Image

Nancy Leigh DeMoss: A lot of people dismiss the Bible, assuming it demeans women.

“Christianity was basically designed to keep women down.”

“The Bible is all about suppressing women.”

Nancy: But look at the very first chapter, Genesis 1. “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them” (v. 27).

God created men and women equally in His image. It doesn’t say God made male in His image, but the female is something inferior. Both reflect the image of God.

This suggests that men and women are equally important to God. They have equal value before Him. They are equally loved.

You won’t find Scripture belittling women. And you won’t find Scripture belittling men, either. Each has value and significance.
