Esther's Approach
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: You probably know the story of Queen Esther. No one came before the king without being invited. But Esther risked her life and went to the king to plead for the Jewish people. The Scripture says, “When the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, she won favor in his sight, and he held out to Esther the golden sceptre” (5:2). The king showed mercy. He said, “What is it, Queen Esther? What is your request?” (v. 3).
I think that may be a picture of the way we approach God in prayer. God is far greater than that pagan king. Who are we to come to Him with our small problems? But the King has chosen us. He loves us. He wants us to come because He fulfills His plans through the prayers of His people.
God is far more glorious than any earthly king, but He wants you to come before Him in prayer. If you come to Him in the righteousness of Christ, He’ll extend His golden scepter and welcome you to approach His throne.
With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
