Evaluating Our Words
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: The Bible has a lot to say about the way we speak. Sometimes it’s good to take a break and make sure our words match what we believe.
Woman: “Having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor” (Ephesians 4:25).
Nancy: Are you honest, or do you sometimes shade the truth to make yourself look better?
Woman: “Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger” (James 1:19).
Nancy: Do you tend to dominate conversations, or are you a good listener?
Woman: “Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication” (Ephesians 6:18).
Nancy: Do you spend more time talking to other people about problems? Or do you take them to God?
Woman: “There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing” (Proverbs 12:18).
Nancy: Have the people around you been wounded or healed by your words today?
