Forgiveness: A Root of Bitterness
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Can you think of anyone who has ever wronged you and you’ve never forgiven them?
I ask that question whenever I speak on forgiveness. I’ve asked tens of thousands of people—including long-time believers, Bible study leaders, and Christian workers. In almost every case, 80 to 95 percent of the hands go up.
That means that the majority of people sitting in church Sunday after Sunday have unforgiveness in their hearts. They’re in danger of what the writer of Hebrews talks about when he says, “See to it that . . . no 'root of bitterness' springs up and causes trouble” (12:15).
So can you think of anyone who has wronged you and you’ve never forgiven them? You can attack that root of bitterness with the decisive blow of forgiveness—today.
