Forgiving Our Debtors
Woman: God was doing something in my husband’s life. He came to me and asked me to forgive him. He told me that he had been involved in homosexual relationships—even after we were married. How could I forgive something like that?
Leslie Basham: This is Seeking Him, with Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: We’re all going to be treated badly at times. It’s an unavoidable reality of life. The important question is: How are we going to respond when we’re wronged?
Forgiveness isn’t natural, but we’ve got to remember how greatly we have sinned against God and how much He has forgiven us.
Woman: But God started to show me my own failures.
Nancy: We’ve said the Lord’s Prayer lots of times, but living it out is another thing. We say, “Forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors.”
Woman: And I need to offer the same kind of forgiveness that I have been given.
Nancy: Learning to forgive is what happens when we truly start seeking Him.
