Garden of Growth
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Some years ago, I met with a landscaper about the garden space around my new home. But when the plants started arriving, they were tiny, scrawny, and unimpressive.
Sensing my lack of enthusiasm, the landscaper said, “Just wait and see.” The next spring, and for several years after that, the scene was still less than spectacular. But he was right.
More than ten years later, I can now step outdoors and see a lovely array of flowers and plants. Though it took years and careful oversight, my garden is now fulfilling the purpose for which it was intended—to be a place of great beauty.
If you feel like you aren’t getting anywhere in your relationship with the Lord, remember: growth takes time. Seek the Lord diligently through His Word, and ask Him to continue to pull up weeds and nurture what is beautiful. The One who has chosen you to be His own longs to find delight in the garden of your heart.
With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
