Handling Pressure

Woman: Boy, I really yelled at my husband today!

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: How do you handle pressure?

Woman: Sometimes when I have so many things coming at me at once, I just get frustrated and let it loose without thinking!

Nancy: When I don’t spend time alone with God in the Word and in prayer, it definitely affects how I handle pressure.

For example, when I’m tired, I get demanding and impatient. But Psalm 19 says, “The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul” (v. 7).

I can feel overwhelmed when I don’t understand a situation, but “the statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple” (v. 7).

When pressure mounts, I can get angry and reactionary, but “the precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart” (v. 8).

Every day brings its own problems. That’s why we need to get into God’s presence. When we do, we find forgiveness, grace, and peace, and we find perspective for handling the pressures of life.

With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
