Her Feet at Home
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Years ago, the feminist movement successfully stirred up discontent among women who spent their time carrying out tasks related to housekeeping and motherhood.
Well, my mom had six children in her first five years of marriage. She had an incredibly hard job, but she found great joy in serving the Lord by serving her family and managing her home. She told me she didn’t know she was supposed to be unhappy until others told her she shouldn’t have to deal with all the demands on her.
My mom’s life stands in contrast to women who think that work in the home is meaningless and the greatest joy and fulfillment can only be found outside the home.
Proverbs 7 describes a foolish woman and says, “Her feet never stay at home” (v. 11).
Has God called you to be a keeper in your home, serving your husband and children? Then thank God for this important work. Keep serving for His glory and your ultimate satisfaction.
