High God-Esteem
Nancy Leigh DeMoss: How many people are told they suffer from low self-esteem these days? Mental health workers diagnose it in their clients. Teachers diagnose it in their students. Plenty of books and talk shows diagnose it in just about everyone. But I’m convinced that our problem isn’t so much low self-esteem as much as it is low God-esteem.
When we take our eyes off ourselves and focus on Someone greater, that’s when we start to understand our purpose and value. We were created in God’s image. He loves us, and we’re precious to Him. We don’t really need to love ourselves more, but we do need to receive His incredible love for us; to accept His design and purpose for our lives.
If you’ve been told you have low self-esteem, let me encourage you to lose yourself in the greatness of God. As Jesus said in Matthew 10:39, “Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”
With Seeking Him, I'm Nancy Leigh DeMoss.
