Honest with Others
Woman: I really think my marriage would be a lot stronger if I could just tell my husband about my past, but I know he would just think that I’m a horrible person.
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Getting honest with others can be really hard. Here are some questions to help us evaluate whether we’re being honest with other people.
- Do I ever lie to give a better impression of myself?
- Do I try to make people think I’m more spiritual than I really am?
- Am I covering up some sins in my past rather than dealing with them biblically?
- Am I harboring anger or bitterness in my heart toward someone while talking to them like everything’s great?
If the answer to any of those questions is yes, first we need to get honest with God and repent. Then we need to ask forgiveness from others.
Ephesians 4:25 says, “Therefore, putting away lying, let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor, for we are members of one another.” (nkjv)
