How Do I Set Priorities?

Woman: My husband and I are trying to think through our schedules, and we’re trying to decide whether or not I should take a job. How do I make such a big decision?

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth:  Wow, I wish we could sit down over a cup of coffee to talk about this! I’m really not a fan of “soundbite counseling,” but here are a few questions for you to think about.

• Have you prayed about it and asked the Lord for wisdom?

• Is there a wise, older, godly woman in your life that you could discuss this with?

• Think about your season of life and your family’s needs and priorities. Will a job outside the home at this time enhance or will it interfere with your family's needs or your ability to serve your husband and your children, if you have them?

• And if it would interfere, is there another way God may want to provide for your needs?

I can’t tell you exactly what you should do in this season, but I do know that the Lord will show you the way if you ask Him and seek Him in His Word. I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
