Humility and Deliverance
Man: I had this idea for an investment, and I thought it was a sure thing. People kept telling me not to do it, but I thought I knew what I was doing. Now for all that money, we don’t have anything.
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: The way we handle a crisis tells us a lot about our heart.
Man: I was really being arrogant. I really do need some help with our money.
Nancy: Sometimes God allows trouble in our lives to show us the sin in our hearts. He did that with Israel’s King Rehoboam. The king had led the people into sin and rebellion. God had raised up an army to attack the country and punish the people.
Second Chronicles 12 tells us how the king responded to the crisis. “Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, ‘The LORD is righteous’" (v. 6). And God said, "They have humbled themselves. I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance”
What crisis are you facing? Are you calling out to God in humility? With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
