Ignoring the Plot
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: When you read a story, you generally start at the beginning and go from there.
Woman 1: I can’t wait to start this novel.
Woman 2: Oh, I read that book and at the end . . .
Woman 1: No, no, no, don’t tell me anything. I want to find out for myself.
Nancy: It’s important to read a novel from start to finish so you can get the whole plot. But a lot of times we miss the plot of the Bible. We skip around from book to book and chapter to chapter without appreciating the Bible’s dramatic flow.
The Word of God tells one grand story that has a beginning and a conclusion. It’s the amazing story of redemption.
We can get a lot of meaning out of individual chapters and verses, but sometimes we need to step back and get the big picture. We need to see how the parts of the Bible support the entire plot.
If you haven’t done it in a while, think about tackling the Bible from cover to cover. You’ll love getting the grand, panoramic view of God’s great redemptive plan.
