Lies and Truths

Leslie:  This is Seeking Him, with Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: I once got a letter from a woman named Shondra that shows what can happen when we first listen to a lie.

Shondra: I didn’t think God would accept me.

Nancy: The progression continues when we dwell on the lie.

Shondra: I started to think that I had to perform to earn God’s acceptance.

Nancy: If we dwell on lies, soon we’ll start to believe the lies.

Shondra: I could only please Him by being a perfect Christian.

Nancy: And finally, we act on the lie.

Shondra: The pressure was so much that I was in a severe depression.

Nancy: But there’s power when we start hearing, dwelling on, and believing the truth.

Shondra: I’ve come to realize that I need to fill my mind with God’s Word—not to perform or keep Him from being mad. I just need to know the truth, so I can say no to lies.
