Lifting the Curse
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Do you remember the condition of Narnia at the beginning of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, by C. S. Lewis? Because of a curse, it was “always winter, but never Christmas.”
That’s how Israel could have felt in the 400 silent years between the Old and New Testaments. But Mary trusted in our covenant-keeping God. She knew winter was beginning to thaw. The curse would be lifted!
Mary: “He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, as he spoke to our fathers.”
Nancy: And so, Lord, we see Your promise-keeping faithfulness in the face of Jesus. You’ve lifted the curse. You’ve kept Your Word. We live with hope today because You are redeeming and making all things new. So during this Advent season, remind us that our future in You is sure, but only in the face, in the name, of Jesus. Amen.
