Mimicking Our Big Brother
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: There’s no doubt that the relationship between siblings is uniquely . . . well, bonding.
Older Boy: I'm serious . . . stop!
Younger Boy: I'm serious . . . stop.
Nancy: Have you ever seen a younger brother imitate his older brother?
Older Boy: Stop copying me!
Younger Boy: Stop copying me.
Older Boy: I'm going to tell Mom!
Younger Boy: I'm going to tell Mom.
Nancy: We all know how irritating that can be. While this scenario is annoying, did you know the Bible calls us to mimic our big brother Jesus?
The apostle John wrote in 1 John chapter 2, “The one who says he abides in [Christ] ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.”
What about you? When others look at your life, can they see the family resemblance? With the passage of time, they should begin to see in you more and more of Jesus’ humble spirit, His heart of service, and His willingness to suffer on behalf of others.
Imitate Christ today. He is, after all, our spiritual Brother.
With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
