More Than Noise
Woman: I’d heard people preach at me all my life about God and the Bible. But you know, it wasn’t until my dad got sick and my neighbor came over just to care about me. She didn’t want to preach at me. Then I really started listening to what she said.
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: The world isn’t necessarily impressed just because we have all the right answers; they are looking for authentic love. The apostle Paul said, “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal” (1 Cor. 13:1).
If the world isn’t impressed with the noise that we make as believers, then we’re probably making it without love. Your neighbor won’t be impressed with your message, true as it may be, if you’re not sharing it out of a heart of selfless love. They’ll just think you’re making a loud noise.
This week, how could you demonstrate some of the things you believe about God’s love?
With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
