Passive Husbands
“My husband won’t get a job. If I didn’t work, we’d starve!”
“Why won’t he help discipline the kids?”
Nancy Leigh DeMoss: One of our tendencies as women can be to jump in and take charge if we feel the men around us are being too passive.
“If I let him take care of the finances, we’d go bankrupt!”
Nancy: But ask yourself what would happen if you didn’t jump in to handle the situation?
Well, if he gets hungry, he’ll probably work. He may go bankrupt, but that may be just what God uses to get his attention and change his character. Ultimately, your security isn’t in your husband but in a God who will never fail you.
When we give up control to God, we can be free from the drive to control the men in our lives. As Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the LORD!”
