People Will Know
Nancy DeMoss Wolegmuth: What would show non-believers that the Body of Christ is serious about their faith? What would get the world’s attention?
Woman 1: Really cool VBS!! Like with kids’ programs and lights and noises and stuff like that.
Woman 2: We just need music that isn’t so dated.
Man: If you ask me, I think the church needs to do a better job with marketing. We’ve got a great product in a lot of cases, but nobody knows about it!
Nancy: You know, Jesus didn’t say the world would notice if we had neon lights on the stage or a billboard on the freeway or if the church decor was updated every six months. He didn’t say anything about how many campuses make up our church, or how cool our website is, or what the kids’ programs are like.
He said, “Just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:34–35).
Is your church’s primary focus on strategies, programs, and promotion? Or is it on love?
