Power from God's Presence
Woman 1: People come to me at work all the time and just pour out their problems. It seems like my prayer list just keeps growing!
Woman 2: I give out so much information and advice every day. My daughter needs help with a relationship. My toddler's asking questions all the time. Where do I go for advice?
Nancy: We go to the same place Jesus went—to the presence of God.
Luke tells us, “Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” And Mark tells us, “He went up on a mountainside to pray. . . . They ran throughout that whole region and carried the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was . . . and all who touched him were healed.”
Jesus’ power to give to other people came from being in the presence of God. Whenever He withdrew from the crowds for a season to pray, the crowds were drawn to Him. They saw something they wanted.
The people around you are needy. In order to have something to give them, you need to spend time alone with God first.
