Praying for Government Leaders
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Today, the 46th President of the United States will be inaugurated. There’s always a lot of talk about what will happen in the first 100 days of a new administration. Well, what if over the next 100 days—and beyond—the people of God were to pray for our leaders?
The apostle Paul wrote to first century Christians living under the heel of the totalitarian, corrupt Roman empire, and exhorted them to pray “for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.”
He went on to say, “This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
So would you pray—today, tomorrow, and in the days ahead—for our leaders? And let’s pray for an outpouring of God’s mercy and grace in our nation and in our world in this season.
With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
