Pride vs. Brokenness in Relationships
Woman: Let’s see what’s on the radio.
Announcer: This is Seeking Him, with Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Are you a proud person or a broken person?
Woman: Broken, of course.
Nancy: Your relationships could give you some insight.
Woman: Okay.
Nancy: Proud people find it difficult to discuss their spiritual needs with others.
Woman: Huh? What spiritual needs?
Nancy: But broken people are willing to be open and transparent as God directs.
Woman: Oh.
Nancy: Proud people are quick to blame others.
Woman: The reason I’m not more transparent is my mother’s fault.
Nancy: But broken people accept personal responsibility.
Woman: Yeah, but you don’t know what my mom did.
Nancy: Proud people are defensive when corrected.
Woman: Besides, how do you know that I’m not transparent?
Nancy: Broken people receive correction with a humble, open spirit.
Woman: So now you’re saying that I’m not humble?
Nancy: Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
Woman: I’ve had enough of this!
Nancy: With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
