Public Gratitude
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Author Barbara Rainey says the Pilgrims knew their gratitude to God needed to be public.
Barbara Rainey: The children were watching. But there were also Indians watching. And the Indians, of course, were unbelievers.
Nancy: Unbelievers are watching you, too. Are you displaying gratitude to God before a watching world?
Barbara: I think we have a responsibility as Christians in this country to continue to celebrate Thanksgiving. Not just to celebrate it in the way everybody else does, but to celebrate it in a way that God intended for us to, to give thanks and publicly declare:
- God is good.
- We worship Him.
- He is sovereign.
- He is the One who is protecting us and providing for us.
Nancy: As we near Thanksgiving, it’s a good time to ask, are you known for grumbling and complaining? Or are your children, friends, and family getting a picture of true gratitude to God by looking at your life?
With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
