Receiver
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: For years Simeon had been on the lookout for Jesus—not knowing exactly what he was looking for, but trusting the Spirit to show him.
Simeon: He came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, he took him up in his arms and blessed God.
Nancy: Based on Simeon's reaction to the Christ child, the early church called Simeon the Greek name Theodoches—“God receiver”— Simeon received Christ.
As long as you and I are here on this earth, we will always have longings and desires, we will always be waiting for things to change. But I believe God’s way of navigating us through unfulfilled longings is to teach us how to keep receiving Him each day. No matter how old or tired our waiting eyes become, may we never stop being a Theodoches—a “God receiver”
With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
